Das künstlerische Handwerk der Mongol Zurag nutzt er, um seiner Idee vom Leben als ewigen Kampf Ausdruck zu verleihen. Dabei geht es ihm sowohl um innere Identitätskonflikte als auch um Reibungen zwischen Tradition und Moderne. Seine Arbeiten sind ästhetische Meisterwerke voller detaillierter Referenzen und Symbole.

 

Geboren 1988 in der Mongolei, studierte er Bildende Kunst an der  Mongolischen Universität für Künste und Kultur in Ulaanbaatar. Einzelausstellungen im Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts und 976 Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar, Gruppenausstellungen in der National Modern Art Gallery, UMA Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar, in Fukuoka Triennial im Fukuoka Asian Art Museum Japan; in New Mexico, USA; in der Schoeni Art Gallery in Hong Kong, Südkorea.

Ever since he was a child, Gerelkhuu’s preferred means of communication was drawing. He is trained in the art of the traditional Mongolian painting Mongol Zurag. He combines this artistic point of origin with his view of life as an eternal battle, referring to individual identity as well as the struggle between traditional and urban cultures in modern Mongolian society. His works are aesthetic masterpieces full of detailed references to tradition and modernity.
