Die Gesichter in den Porträts von Bayarmagnai verschmelzen mit Objekten, verwandeln sich surreal oder tragen offen Risse zu Schau. So zeigt Bayarmagnai drastisch und sensibel zugleich den seelischen Zustand der Erstickung und Entfremdung vieler Mongolen, ausgelöst durch Verstädterung, Überbevölkerung und hohe soziale Ungleichheiten. Die alltäglichen Existenzkämpfe und die oft ignorierte Unzufriedenheit der Menschen erhalten durch seine Bilder visuell Anerkennung.
Geboren 1984, lebt und arbeitet als freier Künstler in Ulaanbaatar. Studium: “Future” Hochschule für Bildende Kunst, Mongolischen Universität für Künste und Kultur in Ulaanbaatar. Ausstellungen im In-und Ausland u.a. Tsagaandarrium Art Gallery, UMA Art Gallery, Red Ger Art Gallery, Xanadu Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar; Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong, China sowie Sinitude Paris Gallery, Paris, Frankreich. Teilnahme am Mongolisch-Koreanischen Kunstfestival, Jeju Südkorea; Residedenzprogramm “Time & Space in Umnugobi, Mongolei.
By melting, morphing and lacerating faces with objects or the background in his portraits, Bayarmagnai Avirmed (Magnai) depicts the mental state of suffocation and alienation due to urbanization, overcrowding, and high social inequalities in today’s Mongolian society. These everyday struggles lead to a strong and yet often ignored dissatisfaction to which Bayarmagnai’s pictures give a visual recognition.
Born 1984, lives and works as a freelance artist in Ulaanbaatar. He studied at the “Future” College of Fine Art and also at the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture in Ulaanbaatar. Numerous exhibitions in Mongolia and abroad, among others at Tsagaandarrium Art Gallery, UMA Art Gallery, Red Ger Art Gallery und Xanadu Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar; Schoeni Art Gallery in Hong Kong, China and Sinitude Paris Gallery in Paris, France. Participation in Mongolian-Korean Art festival in Jeju Korea and residency program for Nomadic Arts “Time & Space in Umnugobi, Mongolia.
