BADRAL Bold I Болдын Бадрал

Although Badral’s genre of choice is the self-portrait, non-figurative elements dominate his work. They are designed to disguise and obscure the central subject of the work – the artist himself. He seeks to explore the boundaries of personal and artistic identity, and his works are characterized by blurry as well as furry and distorted outlines of facial features that seem to continue beyond the canvas. In doing so, Badral questions the representative quality of the portrait and whether individual identity can be adequately expressed by artitstic techniques.

Born in 1985, he studied at the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture, Ulaanbaatar. Numerous Exhibitions at Xanadu Art Gallery & Red Ger Art Gallery, Blue-Sun iLoft Function House, Zanabazar Museum of Fine Art in Ulaanbaatar.
